Barb From 'Stranger Things' Is Alive & Well, You Guys—See Shannon Purser In The Trailer For Netflix's 'Sierra Burgess Is A Loser'

Netflix has dropped the first trailer for its newest original filmSierra Burgess Is A Loser. The film stars Stranger Things fan favorite, Shannon Purser, as high school student Sierra, who is trying to fit in among her petty and shallow peers.

Sierra finds herself in a bit of a catfishing situation, after a romance between her and hottie jock Jamey (Noah Centineo) begins over text and Sierra soon learns that Jamey thinks she is popular girl in school Veronica (Kristine Froeseth). Afraid that Jamey will not like the real her, Sierra keeps up the ruse, her connection with Jamey and increasing lies, completely changing her life. But when Jamey asks Sierra out on a date, she enlists the help of former enemy Veronica, promising to help her pass her classes. While helping each other a friendship blooms between the two girls, and Veronica introduces Sierra to a whole new side of the high school experience. 

As the trailer progresses it also becomes clear that, like any teenager, Sierra is dealing with insecurities and uncertainties, and is struggling to define herself and the person she will become. . "Do you have any idea what it's like to be a teenage girls and to look like this?" she asks in one moment. "Growing up's terrifying. I don't know what I am." Everyone has felt like that at some point, making Sierra's character representation so important. 

Sierra Burgess is a Loser makes it way to Netflix on September 7.
