Ariana Grande Claps Back at Male Fan Who Objectified Her

Ariana Grande has been known to shut down sexist haters in the past, but this time her fight has taken on a whole new meaning. On Twitter last night, Ariana shared an emotional and upsetting message that detailed an encounter she had with a male fan.

She and boyfriend Mac Miller were out together when a fan approached them, seemingly to compliment Mac. But then the coversation totally crossed a line. “I thought all of this was cute and exciting until he said, ‘Ariana is sexy as hell man I see you, I see you hitting that!!!'” she writes.

“This may not seem like a big deal to some of you but I felt sick and objectified,” she continues. “I am not a piece of meat that a man gets to utilize for his pleasure. I’m an adult human being in a relationship with a man who treats me with love and respect.”

She ends the note by reminding her fans that they cannot sit idly by and allow this kind of behavior to continue at their expense. “We need to share and be vocal when something makes us feel uncomfortable because if we don’t, it will just continue. We are not objects or prizes. We are QUEENS.” YES. WE. ARE.

When many Twitter users claimed Ariana was being hypocritical because she “objectifies herself” in her music, Grande quickly clapped back. “Expressing sexuality in art is not an invitation for disrespect!!! Just like wearing a short skirt is not asking for assault.”

Props to Ariana for not only standing up for herself but for all women. It’s time we stop letting others judge and disrespect us for no other reason than they feel like they can. And it’s our job to speak up when it does happen.
