Anne Hathaway Defends Jennifer Lawrence in An Awesome Way


Jennifer Lawrence has recently received criticism for calling out a reporter during a Golden Globes press conference. While many believe the actress acted rudely, Anne Hathaway recently released a statement on Facebook defending her fellow actress.

J-Law had originally said to a reporter, “You can’t live your whole life behind your phone, bro.” Hathaway spoke up to say Lawrence wasn’t being rude. Instead she explains Jen’s comment had been taken out of context and she had only been “dryly joking.” Society, Hathaway says, needs to stop bullying others and instead build them up.

Hathaway isn’t the first person to defend Lawrence. A reporter who was inside the pressroom when the public “scolding” occurred said that Lawrence was anything but rude. Lawrence merely wanted the reporter to be “present” during the conference.

We love the girl power Hathaway is sending to her former co-star. It’s so true that we need to work on building each other up instead of tearing others down. While it’s hard to know exactly how J-Law meant her comment, she is known for her witty, dry jokes so it’s probably safe to say she meant no harm by it. Given everything Lawrence has accomplished, this is not what she should be remembered for.
