7 Things To Watch While You Impatiently Wait For The Return Of ‘Riverdale’

With Riverdale gone, you may be wondering where you can get your weekly fix of drama. Thankfully, there are plenty of movies and TV shows out there to hold you over until The CW drama returns in the fall. Here are some of the top options.

1. Pretty Little Liars

PLL is the OG, young adult drama. With murder, conspiracy, and enough love triangles to give you flashbacks to trigonometry, Pretty Little Liars basically paved the way for shows like Riverdale. If you missed this show the first time around, use the summer to get caught up. And if you’ve already seen it, re-watch to get ready for next year’s spin-off, Pretty Little Liars: The Perfectionists.

2. Big Little Lies

If you want to see what Veronica, Betty, and Cheryl will be like in 20 years, HBO’s Big Little Lies will probably paint a pretty good picture. With a cast and creative team of incredible women, Big Little Lies is a great show to watch and discuss with your squad. And if you like what you see, great news—season two is on the way!

3. Killing Eve

Killing Eve is a relatively new addition to the TV landscape. It is a BBC America show that chronicles the cat-and-mouse game that exists between an assassin and the woman who has been hired to take her down. Starring everyone’s favorite Seattle Grace alum, Sandra Oh, Killing Eve is perfect summer viewing.

4. Phantom Thread

If you are looking for more intellectual viewing, but still want the drama and high fashion that Riverdale has become known for, look no further than the Oscar-nominated film, Phantom Thread. At first, the film looks to be an exploration of the relationship between a London fashion designer and his muse, but in a big twist, it delves into the darker side of their love. Think of this as the more angsty, high-fashion version of Betty and Jughead.

5. The Tunnel and The Tunnel: Sabotage

If you are looking for more international flair, the two seasons of this European import are a perfect match. French and English police team up to investigate crimes that occur in the tunnel between England and France. Through their investigation, they uncover international conspiracies that make the plans of Hiram Lodge and his evil henchman look like child’s play.

6. Scream: The TV Series

This show, coming back for its third season any day now (come on, we just need a premiere date), is perfect for the Riverdale fan who couldn’t take their eyes away from the Black Hood drama. A fairly scary show that details the crimes of a serial killer, you might want to sleep with one eye open after watching this one.

7. The Perks of Being A Wallflower

If you don’t care about the crime and conspiracy in Riverdale, but are instead enthralled by the teen angst, give The Perks of Being A Wallflower a watch. The adventures of Charlie and his crew are a little tamer than the antics of Archie and the gang, but the grounded nature of the film make Perks a relatable one.

Bonus: Riverdale (again, because duh!)

If you were left saying “Umm…what?” after the finale, you might consider giving the first two seasons of Riverdale another glance, especially since season two hits Netflix today, May 24. Plus, it’s never too early to get caught up before season three premieres this fall.

Happy viewing!
