If you’ve seen Fox’s New Girl, you understand what we mean when we say there are numerous WTF moments in the show. New Girl is filled with tons of hilarious moments, heartfelt scenes and, of course, weird situations. Here are our favorite WTF scenes from New Girl thus far:

1. The time when Jess wore all her clothes from her ex’s while confronting him about their relationship.

We see the weird side of the New Girl star as soon as the second episode. Jess has been avoiding going back to her ex-boyfriend’s house to retreive her belongings, but when she accidentally breaks the apartment’s TV, she’s forced to go back to get hers. Jess eventually goes into the house to retreive her stuff and comes out wearing it all. Though we’re proud that she finally stood up to her jerk of an ex-boyfriend, it was a little hard to take her seriously when she was wearing those hats.

2. The time when Nick met a mute man who took him to a spa.

It’s even weirder than it sounds (if that’s possible). After Jess has an emotional outburst, Nick decides to look inward at his own rage issues. He wanders to a park, where he meets a mute man on the bench. He begins ranting to this stranger, who throughout the episode becomes his confidant. The man ends up silently leading Nick to a pool spa. Nick of course objects at first, but then finds the spa comforting. He returns to the apartment refreshed and stress-free.

3. The time when Nick and Jess almost had a threesome with their landlord.

The gang’s landlord is notoriously grumpy, but Jess believes that she can fix that. Their apartment is in terrible shape, so Jess stands up to the group and goes to talk to him. He ends up being very friendly to Jess – perhaps too friendly. He mistakes her niceness for sexual interest and assumes that she and Nick want more than for him to fix up their place.

4. The time when Nick was obsessed with Jess’s boyfriend.

Throughout the first season, Jess has a brief relationship with one of her students’ fathers, Russell. When she has to attend a party at Russell’s place, she drags Nick along. Nick is fascinated by the rich lifestyle Russell lives, with fancy phones, expensive sweaters and rich mahogany desks. Nick admires how accomplised Russell is, and it eventually gets weird when he tells Russell that he’s “husband material.”

5. The time when Winston became a crazy cat lady.

Winston takes care of his almost-girlfriend’s cat, Ferguson. However, during Ferguson’s stay at the apartment, Winston finds out that his almost-girlfriend had been seeing other people behind his back. Winston goes through a period in which he considers killing the cat, but instead decides to do the opposite and keeps him. Ferguson becomes Winston’s number one companion while the rest of the group has boyfriends and girlfriends.

6. The time when Jess wore the most complicated lingerie ever.

Jess also has a brief fling with one of her quirky co-workers, Paul. She tries to spice up their love life with some “sexy” lingerie, which was just a complicated mess of strings and fabric. Needless to say, she ends up making a fool of herself.

7. The time when Jess dressed up as Elvis for Nick’s father’s funeral.

When Nick’s dad suddenly dies, the group accompanies him to the funeral in Chicago. Nick’s father loved Elvis, so the family hired an Elvis impersonator to appear at the ceremony. Unfortunately, said impersonator showed up completely drunk. Jess steps in to help out, singing “In the Ghetto” to the mourners in a bejeweled jumpsuit.

These are just seven of our favorite WTF moments of New Girl – we didn’t even mention Schmidt’s obsession with lionfish, Cece’s weird boyfriends and the fact that Nick wore his ex-girlfriend’s clothes in one episode! There are tons of hilarious scenes and episodes from the show, and we’re sure there are plenty more weird moments to come!
