With more than a handful of apologies and tearful performances, 2015 was the year for Justin Bieber to redeem himself. We all know you remember his appearance on Comedy Central Roast and his backside on Instagram. So why not take a moment to reminisce about Biebs and all those times he was “Sorry”?
1. On The Ellen DeGeneres Show
Last January, Biebs dropped by The Ellen DeGeneres Show and addressed his bad behavior, saying, “I’ve done some things that might not have been the greatest.” It’s okay, Justin, we’ve all been there.
2. In a Facebook Video
The exact same day, Justin went to posting a Facebook video after the show apologizing for his “awkward” behavior. “It’s been a minute since I’ve done a public appearance, and I didn’t want to come off arrogant or conceited or basically how I’ve been acting the past year, year and a half.”
3. On the Comedy Central Roast
In March, Justin approached Comedy Central about being a guest on their roast show. After being the target of cruel jokes, he delivered a heartfelt apology saying, “The things that I’ve done really don’t define who I am. I’m a kind-hearted person who loves people and through it all I lost some of my best qualities and for that, I’m sorry.” Awww, Justin! We don’t blame you!
4. When he canceled his show in the UK
“I look forward to the opportunity to give my UK Beliebers a great show in the near future and hope to honor my commitment to [the Prince’s] Trust at that time.”
5. For walking off stage during a show
“Sadly, it’s been a rough week for me, long days no sleep while having to be ‘on’ as they would say for cameras, fans, etc. In no way did I mean to come across mean but chose to end the show as the people in the front row would not listen…I don’t always handle things the right way but I’m human and I’m working on getting better at responding, not reacting.”
Ok Bieber, stop with the excuses! I mean, we’ll never stop loving you, but seriously?
6. His naked butt on Insta
Back in July, the Canadian singer posted a naked photo of himself on Instagram, but quickly deleted it before posting a new picture fully clothed. But let’s all be honest, we didn’t mind the post!
7. In Men’s Health magazine
“It’s time for me to grow up. This has really been a big year for me, as far as figuring stuff out. This is almost like a full 180 from how I was. Yesterday – a year from yesterday – I was in jail.”
8. In Seventeen magazine
Bieber reflected on his past in Seventeen‘s June/July issue, admitting, “I was rebelling a little bit. I was getting cockier and cockier. I didn’t have people to check me. I looked back and I was disappointed in myself.” He added, “You have to own up to the mistakes. You have to say, ‘I’m sorry if I’ve let you down.’” Oh how you’ve matured!!
9. In an interview with Entertainment Tonight
In November, Justin was quite the emotional wreck during his Purpose album-launch concert in LA. While performing his new single, “I’ll Show You,” Biebs got all choked up and started crying. But later he revealed, in an interview with Entertainment Tonight, the real reason behind the tears. We wish we could have been there to wipe off these tears for you!
10. In Billboard magazine
Justin continued to make headlines when he opened up about wanting to redeem himself in an interview with Billboard back in November.
“Enough with the Justin Bieber Show. I want to veer away from the self-centered attitude. I’m just focused on the people who have been there since the start, on people who are taking the journey now. I want them to feel like we’re doing this together.”
11. In i-D magazine
And one more time.
“The reality is that people are human and people mess up and people go through trials and tribulations. It made me, myself, be more human to people. I think it’s more relatable now. When I had that young voice it was hard for people to connect. Dudes can listen to it now and say, ‘Yeah, I like that new Bieber song.'”
12. At the Montage Hotel
After admitting to Access Hollywood that he wasn’t over Selena Gomez, an Instagram user captured Justin attempting to redeem himself by serenading her at the Montage hotel bar in L.A. So sweet!
13. When he burst into tears at the VMAs
During an appearance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, Biebs revealed that his tears were due to the level of support he received from the audience. “It was so overwhelming for me, everything…I missed some cues, so I was a little disappointed at that.” He also reflected on his past (again), stating, “I just had a bunch of knuckleheads around me. I went through a place of trying to figure it out. You have to test the waters…I just happened to be in the spotlight and in front of cameras all the time, and they caught all those moments.”
