In last night’s Grey’s Anatomy episode, fans were taken down memory lane in the Denny Duquette Memorial Clinic. Dr. Alex Karev, who’s in legal trouble for assaulting DeLuca, was assigned to work in the clinic and restricted from performing surgery. Many fans freaked out when they saw this. The show’s creator, Shonda Rhimes, live-tweeted during the show and said that this scene brought back a lot of TBT moments from the series.
For those of you who don’t know, back in season two, Dr. Izzie Stevens fell in love with a patient named Denny Duquette who needed a heart transplant. Izzie loved Denny so much and wanted him to get better so badly that she cut his LVAD wire so that he could move up the transplant list and get a brand new heart. After a series of unfortunate events and Denny not being able to receive the heart, he ended up passing away and leaving all of his money ($8.7 million to be exact) to Izzie. Once Izzie received this check, she put it to good use at Seattle Grace Hospital, creating a free clinic for patients.
Since Alex Karev has been with the show since season one, it was super sentimental that he was assigned back to the clinic. Even though he is a big hotshot surgeon now and didn’t want to be there, fans were having major feels during this moment…which got us thinking about these other TBT moments that still give us all the feels.
