How to Throw the Perfect Graduation Celebration

You’ve worked your butt off for the last four (or more) years, so you deserve to go out with a bang. Even if you aren’t sure what your plans are beyond graduation, make sure you have one last hurrah with friends and family. This party should be more special than your regular, run-of-the mill Saturday night bash. These tips and tricks will help make your graduation celebration absolutely perfect.

1. Make a “Congrats” lawn sign

Make sure guests know where they’re going by adding these cute signs to your front yard.

2. Set up a tissue paper graduation year sign

How cute is this tissue paper graduation year sign? Use it as table decor or as a photo backdrop.

3. Get your dessert game on

This dessert table is literally fit for a queen. You’ve got your diploma cookies, your chocolate-covered Oreos, grad “cap”-cakes, cake push-pops and cap-shaped cookies. Also, if your dessert table looks like this, you can totally get away with not serving real food.

4. Collect unforgettable advice

You’ve not stepped into the real world yet, so why not get some tips from those who are a bit more experienced than you? Whether it’s what to bring to your first day of work or a reminder to save some of that cash you’re raking in, let your wiser friends and family guide you on your journey!

5. Make cap straw toppers

How cute are these little grad caps? You could even make them in your school colors, or a variety of colors so that people know whose drink is whose.

6. Give out disposable cameras

Put out disposable cameras so that guests can capture the best moments—even the ones you may miss! After the party, get them developed and put the photos in a Facebook album so all your friends can see them.

7. Make sure you have photo booth props

If you’re going to have disposable cameras, you have to have photo booth props! These grad caps have cute little sayings and superlatives.

8. Make a “Congrats” tassel sign

How adorable is this sign? Hang it above the mantle or on the dessert table for a bright pop of color.

9. Use lots of confetti

Science says that confetti makes everything better, and that definitely applies to parties! Get special confetti in your school colors or in the shape of something you love to do, like these little confetti gymnasts.

10. Give out Smarties

Since you’re a smartie, give Smarties out to all your guests to celebrate. If you’re in Canada, these candies are called Rockets, so give out boxes of chocolate Smarties instead.

11. Throw your party with someone else

Since you and your besties are #squadgoals, why not throw your grad party together? You guys probably have the same friend group, so this ensures that everyone can come celebrate together and it helps cut down on costs.

12. Have a cupcake table

Cupcakes are way better than cake—everyone knows that. Cut out poster board in the shape of your grad year or even the initials of your school, and put the cupcakes on the poster board for this adorable display. Yum!
