A Collegiette’s Guide to Dressing for Move-In Day

It’s that time again, collegiettes – you’re saying “hasta la vista” to your home friend, kissing that sweet internship buh-bye, and getting excited for another fantastic year at school. You may be stressing over what to pack for the upcoming semester, but have you planned your move-in day outfit? Don’t be fooled, style mavens: it matters. If reuniting with your BFFs is not enough of an incentive to dress to the nines, maybe that cute boy down the hall is. Between bending over and lifting a ton of boxes, a cute sundress may lead to a fashion malfunction. What’s a girl to do? As always, I’m here to help my favorite tastemakers out!

1. Rock the Romper
When in doubt, you can always turn to your favorite daytime rompers. Not only are rompers adorable, you won’t have to worry about your shirt riving up or you pants heading south. To beat the heat, definitely sport a romper with shorts. I know how much you’re dying to show off your new tan, so this shouldn’t be a problem!

2. Spice Up Your Shorts
Shorts may seem like an obviously choice; however, it’s absolutely imperative to leave your jean shorts in your suitcase for this one. After all, you have to let your campus know that their style queen is back! Try sporting vibrant shorts — the pop of color is the ultimate way to say goodbye to your summer wardrobe. If attention-grabbing hues aren’t your thing, don a pair of lace shorts. Your cute neighbor will secretly love your feminine ensemble!

3.Funky Kicks
As any style maven knows, your outfit is only as good as your accessories. While dangling bracelets, necklaces, and earrings may not be ideal for move-in day (one false move and your necklace is broken), make up for the lack of jewels with a pair of awesome shoes. From metallic sandals to printed flats, there are so many ways to make sure your look is amazing from head to toe!

4. Lavish Lips
Last but not least, the key to a successful move-in outfit is incredible makeup. If you outfit isn’t as stylish as you had hoped, rock a bright lip. The best thing about sporting a punchy lipstick is that you have so many hues to choose from: pink is feminine, coral is trendy and summer-approved, and red is just so classic! Insta-glam? What are you going to wear on move-in day?
