Glamour Magazine’s Cindi Leive Receives UN Award!

HC congratulates Glamour Magazine’s Editor-in-chief, Cindi Leive, on winning the Life Free of Violence Media Partner Award.  UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon presented Miss Leive with the award this morning on behalf of the UN’s Trust Fund to End Violence against Women. Throughout her tenure at Glamour, Leive has used her position as a platform to work towards ending gender-based violence and empowering women everywhere. She continually features articles on honor killings and sexual trafficking. In doing so, she reminds Glamour’s 12 million readers that such problems continue to threaten our society and emphasizes the importance of ongoing advocacy. Leive was one of several people honored by the UN Fund, which works to end violence against girls and women globally.  The program has awarded grants in over 124 different countries and territories, and estimates that up to 70% of women will be affected by gender based violence in their lifetime. Leive’s work is an important step towards decreasing this troubling statistic, and we look forward to continuing to support both Glamour Magazine and Leive’s commitment to ending violence against women.
