This Teen’s Face Is Literally Her Canvas

At 16, one makeup artist takes eyeshadow as we know it to a whole other level. Stefania Atupe cannot fail to impress you with her artwork.

We all have hobbies, but not many people decide to turn their eyelids into their canvas. Stefania initially took up this pastime to ramp up her makeup routine. “I was really bored of the same smokey eyes, and don’t get me wrong, I love a good smokey eye, but I really wanted to attempt something that was more ‘artsy,’ different, and more intricate, to practice my skills,” the young MUA told Her Campus.

Crazily enough, she hasn’t been using makeup for that long. “I fell in love with makeup around a year ago when I started practicing eyeshadow; it made me feel really pretty and I really enjoyed doing it,” Stefania said. “When I had practiced for a bit, I started my Instagram in order to display my hobby!”

After posting her amazing peacock work and imitating Vincent Van Gogh’s “Starry Night” on her eyelids, she got a lot media attention—ot just with thousands of likes per post but with shoutouts from outlets like Cosmopolitan, Teen Vogue, Allure and POPSUGAR. NBD!

“When I started this, I really did not expect to get any attention,” Stefania added. “At most, I thought my friends would tell me I did a good job! When it got a few hundred likes on twitter I was really pleased, but when I woke up the next day and it had 2,000 likes, I was amazed and so excited! It was crazy to see all the nice comments from some of my favourite makeup artists as well!”

Stefania’s love for makeup has only grown since she took up her craft: “I just want to share the art and show that makeup really is an art.”

Unfortunately, you won’t see a stunning young lady with peacock eye makeup out on the street any time soon. When asked if she rocks her out-there looks on the town, Stefania responded, “Normally when I complete these artworks it’s at night or in the evening, so I never really get the opportunity to wear it out. However, I don’t think I would, as I’m sure I’d get some strange looks and called extra if I did go out with such extreme makeup!” We’d cheer you on, girl.

So what’s next for Stefania? She is hoping for some awesome makeup collabs in the future—and frankly so are we: “Hopefully I’ll be able to work more closely with some of my favourite brands this year, [but] you never know what awaits!”

Look out, beauty junkies, you might be seeing a lot more of the amazing Stefania Atupe this year! You better keep an eye open for collabs.
