Huda Kattan Made A Vagisil-Inspired Primer Of Her Own & It Gives A Whole New Meaning To Drug Store Beauty

In the world of beauty, it seems like no one is satisfied using just makeup when putting on makeup anymore. With everyone vying for views, likes and popularity, the weirder the beauty “hack” the better. When Huda Kattan, a popular makeup artist and the founder of Huda Beauty, was testing “weird primers” for a Youtube video, she made an unexpected discovery: Vagisil works as an awesome makeup base.

Kattan raved about the drugstore find in her tutorial, explaining “The Vagisil worked really well — I feel like my makeup is sitting really properly, it’s kind of hydrated, and I feel like it’s controlling the oil.” It turns out the cream thats intended to be used for vaginal irritation, was better, in Kattan’s opinion, than lube and laxatives. However, she must have thought that it set her makeup better than other existing products that are intended to prime your face, since it inspired her to create her own primer using similar ingredients!

Huda was a fan of using Vagisil because it contained dimethicone, a silicone-type ingredient that is already found in the makeup products, due to its ability to “soothe skin and fill in pores and fine lines.”

Unfortunately — there was one drawback to Vagisil. Kattan explains, “I would totally use the Vagisil again, I just think carrying it around is going to be a little awkward,” — I don’t blame her!

Kattan’s product Huda Beauty Complexion Perfection ($35 at Sephora) is described as a “A hydrating makeup base that creates a smooth canvas while gripping makeup and moisturizing the skin,” which Huda recommends that you either use before all of your other makeup, or on its own for a “natural airbrushed look.”

Bustle’s Sara Tan tested the primer and came to the final conclusion “No matter how impressive Vagisil’s makeup priming abilities are, there is absolutely no need to ever use it on your face ever again, thanks to Huda Beauty’s Complexion Perfection.”  She noted that this primer would be great for ladies with dry skin, but also said that it struck the perfect balance of still being hydrating, but without leaving your skin feeling oily. While she ultimately enjoyed the primer, and reported back that her makeup had lasted throughout the entire day, she did say that it did not completely erase her pores, like other skin-perfecting primers she has used.

While I doubt that I’ll be putting vagisil on my face any time soon, if Huda was so inspired by the product to create her own, this is a must-try on my list!
