No-Phony Pony

When hot and humid weather rolls around, the last thing we want to do is deal with hair sticking to our faces. Luckily, we have the perfect solution: a high, sleek ponytail that’s both polished and irresistibly cute.

Begin by pulling back all your hair into a ponytail to your desired height (the higher the flirtier!). Using a soft bristle brush, smooth out any bumps or cowlicks so your mane looks extra sharp, and secure with a thick hair tie to make sure your style stays bouncy and in place. Add a touch of extra sophistication by taking a small section of your ponytail and wrapping it around the elastic, securing the end with a bobby pin. Tame any flyaways with a touch of hairspray. Slip on a pair of Jackie O shades, and you’ll look like you just stepped off Rodeo Drive.

Braid Craze

Can’t get enough of summer’s hot braids? Neither can we, which is why we love the idea of creating your own braided headband! This look appears more complicated than it actually is, but keep that style secret to yourself. Just follow Hasblady Guzman’s simple steps to pulling off this summer style staple:

“If you have straight hair, take it all to your left ear, French braid it and tie with a band. Make sure it’s flat, and take it across the top of your head as a head band. Pin it behind your right ear.” In just minutes, your boho babe tresses will give you that cool and casual vibe that’s the epitome of summertime sexiness.

Top Notch Knot

It’s edgy, it’s easy, it’s the perfect style for the busy collegiette. As stylist Angelo David explains, “this trend ruled the runways recently with its ‘on the go’ feel,” so why not incorporate it into your summer staple looks? Hilary Duff effortlessly pulls off the high-hitting bun, and so can you.

Pull all your hair back into a high ponytail and secure tightly with an elastic. Twist your pony as much as you want, and begin to wrap your locks around the hair tie. Secure with bobby pins, but don’t make it a completely slicked-back look; the key here is to embrace the little flyaways and strands of hair that fall out of that top knot. You’ll be feeling extra chic with this no-fuss do!

Never Too Natural

Summer is the perfect time to give your hair a break from all those hairdryers, flattening, and curling irons we religiously use to keep our locks in check during the winter months. What better way to do this than by embracing your natural texture? The thought of funky frizz and unpredictable cowlicks can be a little scary; trust us, we’ve been there. But we’re also here to say that a natural head of hair is hot!

Whether you have pin-straight strands or wild and curly tresses, simply polish up your look with a scarf-like headband. Once you tie the scarf with a knot at the nape of your neck, leave the ends loose so they peek out from underneath your hair, creating a flirty detail to your style. With very little effort, you’ll have a super summery look that’ll keep your mane out of your face while showing off that natural beauty (and hair!).
