Earth Lovers: Saving Water = Saving Time!

This is a sponsored feature. All opinions are 100% from Her Campus.

Greetings, Earthlings! I mean, Earth Lovers…!

Hopefully by now you have all decided to step up and join me in the Three-Minute Shower Challenge! My challenge has been going really well! I’ve successfully taken a 3-minute shower every day this week, except for Friday – I had to shave my legs… So I gave myself 2 3-minute songs to shower to, instead of just 1 – but even then, my shower was still much shorter than my showers had been before this week!

Yesterday’s 3-minute shower songs were:
Airplanes – B.o.B. feat. Hayley Williams
The Way I Are – Timbaland feat. Keri Hilson & D.O.E.

I’m telling you, if you get some good pump-up shower jams going, taking a 3-minute shower is easy-peasy! Just don’t get too caught up in singing along that you don’t get out of the shower in time…! haha. For me, taking a 3-minute shower just takes a little extra focus than a longer shower would. Right when I get in the shower, I start getting my hair wet, and then as soon as my hair is wet, I start shampooing, conditioning, etc… I wash my body while the conditioner is still in my hair, and then quickly rinse out my conditioner, and then wash my face right before I get out of the shower! It really can all be done in 3 minutes. And having long hair to wash is not an excuse, because I have long hair too!

I’ve also learned that I can’t daydream or be too distracted while I shower, if I want to stick to 3-minutes. For me, a lot of the time, I use my shower time as my thinking time – I sort through what I need to get done each day, I daydream about things I want to happen that day, and I always come to some epiphane about my life. I don’t know how it happens, but my showers are very productive inside my brain… haha. But I’m learning that I can find other times during the day to do this, instead of when the shower faucet is running!

Besides saving the world’s precious resources, taking 3-minute showers are awesome because they save you SO MUCH TIME! Seriously. Here’s just a few of the things I’ve gotten done this week in the time I would’ve normally been showering:

– Did more homework
– Cooked (instead of having to hurriedly buy food on the way to class…)
– Painted my nails
– Worked out (if you take a 3-minute shower, you can have time for some 8-minute Abs!)
– Sang to a karaoke version of Rebeccca Black (at least I admit it!)

My pretty, classy nails, thanks to the extra minutes of free I had this week!

Even if you don’t spend your spare time singing “Friiiiday, Friiiiiday…” you’ll definitely have time to do everything else you need/want to do, if you start taking 3-minute showers. On Thursday, my 3-minute shower meant that I wasn’t late for class! I had to leave for class at 3:45pm, and as of 3:20, I hadn’t gotten in the shower… 2 weeks ago, that would’ve been a disaster – there would’ve been no way I could get ready for class in time! But, thanks to my 3-minute-shower-taking skills, I got to class on time, and looked good and was all ready to go!

Make sure to keep checking into my blog and my Twitter for updates on how my reducing my water consumption is going, and to check out the Shower Gels for Earth Lovers that I got from The Body Shop! I’ll show you those soon…!
