College Student Raises Money for Women’s Charities With Anti-Trump Lipstick

Like many Americans, Cal Poly SLO junior Katie Sones was unhappy with Trump’s election. She didn’t want to stay idle, so she took action in an ingenious way. Sones decided to do more than donate money to organizations: she started her own cosmetics brand in order to raise money for women’s charities. Her brand’s name? Lipslut. YESSS.

Sones explained to Mustang News, the Cal Poly paper, why she created a cosmetics line, since it doesn’t immediately seem related to politics. “People are going to buy lipstick either way, so if you could do that and have the money go somewhere that you support, that would be perfect,” Katie said.

Lipslut’s first poduct is a liquid lipstick in a pink-ish nude shade named “F*ck Trump,” and it actually looks really pretty. These lipsticks cost $19.95 each, and 50 percent of the profits will benefit a charity selected by popular vote.

I’m obsessed with the brand’s mission statement: “50% towards charity, 100% against tyranny, and of course, 100% cruelty free. Finally, a lipstick as bold as you.”

The team is still working on the final product but meanwhile, follow @hello.lipslut on Instagram to stay updated. Vote, vote, vote for your charity of choice!
