Tried & True: The Top 5 Best Heat Styling Products

With the abundance of products available to protect your hair from heat and give it some shine when styling, its hard for a Collegiette to know exactly which product to use. Lucky for you, we tried several products and listed our favs below.

1. B.b. Straight Blow Dry, Bumble and Bumble, $29

Our favorite product for its all in one protection, shine, and moisturizing functions, which leaves your hair feeling GREAT and not weighed down. It leaves your hair feeling soft and healthy. You hair will be ready of some envy-worthy hair flipping.

2. Iron Guard Thermal Protection Spray + Silk Fusion Serum, Chi, $13.77 & $24.50

If used together these two products create a fabulous finished product. The thermal protection spray protects hair from damage and the serum adds the shine and soft texture we aim for (and protects against frizz!). Word of caution: do not use more than a dime sized dollop of the serum; that’s really all you will need!

3. Sleek & Shine Flat Iron Perfector Straightening Mist, Garnier Fructis, $4.29

This product is great for protection! Its super light on your hair and leaves it with a great citrusy scent. However if you are looking for a product that will moisturize your hair as well, use a shine serum or leave in conditioner on top of this.

4. Thermal Creations Heat Tamer Spray, Tresemme, $4.99

This product is good for most (if not all hair types). Beauty blogger Alex Horvitz said it was an, “amazing heat protector that keeps hair feeling soft” after straightening. For this low of a price, its definitely worth a try.

5. Elixir Ultime, Kerstase, $54

A little but pricier, but this product is worth every penny. The oily texture coats your hair ensuring protection and shine after your blow-drying and flat-ironing routine. It will leave your hair feeling healthy and soft. Better yet, it doesn’t leave your hair feeling oily or weighed down.
