Get Ready for the Beach: The Best Waterproofing Makeup Tips

Summer means time to hit the beach, but what happens when collegiettes perfected beauty look hits the waves? Well it might not stay so perfected. To ensure your beauty look lasts, while splashing around, water proofing your makeup is a must. Don’t end up with eyeliner streaks down your cheeks! Check out our water proofing tips and tricks below.

1. Stay away form heavy powders and matte formulas. Instead use tinted moisturizers and cream-based products for longer staying power.  The slew of BB (and now CC) creams available will do the trick. Try Maybelline’s version or Boscia’s take on the cream, sold at Sephora. These products are usually made with a SPF, to protect you from the sun’s rays.

2. Use products that reduce lines and pores, so that you can employ minimal makeup. If you use less, there is only less to lose. Try Avon’s magIX Face PerfectorLancome’s Translucence Mattifying Pressed Powder from Sephora, of Givenchy’s Mister Radiant. Apply to a freshly washed face for a clearer, smoother complexion.

3.  No need to stray so far from your regular makeup routine with a helpful holding spray. Try spraying some of Clarins Fix’ Make-up Mist or Urban Decay’s All Nighter Makeup Setting Spray after your regular makeup routine and get ready to hit the beach!

4. Use waterproof mascara, but don’t let it dry between coats to prevent clumping, For some larger than life lashes try using Maybelline Volum’ Express Colossal Waterproof Mascara or Urban Decay’s Ultra Waterproof Mascara.

5. Instead of lipstick try using a tint or a product that will maintain the moisture in your lips. When lips are hydrated they hold color longer. Try Tarte rise and shine lip stain and gloss or Maybelline’s New York SuperStay 24 2-Step Lip color.

6. Try a tint on your cheeks too for longer lasting color. Both Benefit’s quaint Posietint and Jouer Cosmetic’s Cheek Tint in Peony are great options to get a healthful summer glow.

7. If you are in need of a little reapplication use blotting sheets before applying more to prevent caking. Try Proactiv’s oil blotter sheets available on Amazon.

8. A coat of eyeliner can keep your face from looking nude. Lucky for collegiettes, an ample number of eyeliners are already available waterproofed. Liquid liners tend to be longer lasting. Try MAC’s liquid last eyeliner or YSL’s ‘Dessin Du Regard’ Waterproof long lasting eye pencil, for the array of colors it comes in.

9. Not getting enough coverage still? You can always opt for the simple rout and try out the plethora of marked waterproof beauty store finds. We are loving Smashbox’s Waterproof Shadow Liner Duo and Dior’s Diorskin Forever Flawless Perfection Wear Makeup

So get ready to splash around collegiettes! Fear of running mascara should not be an excuse for missing out on some of summer’s favorite pasttimes.
