Add Inches To Your Ponytail in Seconds

The ponytail is the go-to hairstyle for many collegiettes, whether you’re headed back from the gym, out on a date, or just rushing to class, it’s a simple and effective way to pull together your look. In this new take on an old classic, we’re going to show you how to add four whole inches of length and tons of extra volume to your everyday pony. The best part? It only takes a few minutes; no extensions, heat styling, or teasing comb required!

Step 1: Start with your hair down (and dry) and divide the entirety of your hair into two sections by making a horizontal part across the back of your head. Make sure the top section is thicker than the bottom.

Step 2: Take the top section and put that hair into a ponytail, securing it with a hair elastic (make sure the ponytail isn’t too low on the back of your head!).

Step 3: Moving the top ponytail out of the way, gather the bottom half of your hair into another mini ponytail, securing it just above the nape of your neck.

Step 4: Arrange the top ponytail so that it blends in with the smaller one, creating the illusion of an extra long and full ponytail.

This trick works best if you have long hair but you can make it work on almost any length, you might just have to move the bottom ponytail up a bit. For added volume you can tease the top ponytail or add some soft curls to blend the top and bottom ponytails together. Maximum effect with minimal effort? Sounds good to us.
