9 Collegiettes Tell Us About the Best Mascara They’ve Ever Used

There’s nothing quite like a few swipes of an amazing mascara to give us the confidence we need to take on the day. When our lashes are on point, the day just gets better. Plus, fluttery lashes are the perfect compliment to any lip color or eye makeup look, or even with no other makeup at all!

Since mascara always seems to make the list of collegiette makeup essentials, we asked nine collegiettes what their go-to formula is for ***flawless lashes.

Elizabeth Gallo, a senior at Messiah College: Mary Kay Lash Love Lengthening Mascara ($15)

“I have really long eyelashes, so this mascara goes on my lashes smoothly and never seems to run out. It also doesn’t come out thick when I put it on, which saves time in the morning, especially when I am sometimes in a rush to get ready.”

Felicia Beaton, a sophomore at Bunker Hill Community College: Maybelline Lash Sensational ($8.99)

“I tried this mascara on a whim, even though I usually don’t like Maybelline mascaras. I ended up loving it because I don’t have to use a ton of layers to make it look amazing, and I don’t have to use three or four different mascaras to get the same effect.”

Amanda Ragione, a senior at Pennsylvania State University and Alexandra Sakellariou, a junior at McGill University: CoverGirl Waterproof Lash Blast Volume ($8.99)

“I love it because it lasts all day, doesn’t smudge, and holds even when I start to sweat on a hot summer day.” – Amanda

“I’ve literally been using this for seven years and I’ve never found anything that I like better. I have blonde eyelashes and it makes my eyelashes super black, but not in an unnatural way. I rarely get clumps and it also helps make my eyelashes longer. It also succeeds at being waterproof, but it’s easy to get off with decent makeup remover, and you can’t beat the drugstore price.” – Alexandra

Julia Krom, a junior at New York University: Clinique High Impact Curling Mascara ($16.50)

“I love Clinique mascaras because a lot of them come off with just water, so there’s no need to use makeup remover. Also, I love that the curling mascara has a curved brush, so there’s no need to curl your eyelashes either! It’s especially good for travel because it’s everything you need in one wand.”

Sabrina Nelson, a sophomore at Reed College: Too Faced Better Than Sex Mascara ($23)

“I love Too Faced’s Better Than Sex mascara because it lengthens my lashes AND makes them look fuller. It’s perfect for everyday because it’s just the right amount of flirty without taking it over the top. Plus, the packaging is a super cute pink, it has a fun name, and brush is contoured so it’s super easy to use.”

McKenna Bulkley, a junior at University of Missouri: Tarte Lights, Camera Flashes Statement Mascara ($23) and Benefit Cosmetics “They’re Real!” Mascara ($24)

“For day, I love Lights, Camera, Flashes! It’s awesome—it makes my lashes look so long and soft, I’m amazed every time I put it on! For going out, you can’t go wrong with Benefit’s ‘They’re Real!’ mascara. It really adds a wow factor to your lashes!”

Bailee Abell, a junior at University of California, Santa Barba: NYX Cosmetics Pin-Up Tease Boudoir Mascara ($5.99)

“NYX Pin-Up Tease is so underrated, but SO fantastic. Only a couple dollars from the drugstore and super comparable to Benefit’s ‘They’re Real!’ mascara. I love how it separates my lashes while giving me lots of length.”

Courtney Klauber, a recent Rowan University graduate: L’ORÉAL Voluminous Carbon Black Mascara ($7.99)

“L’ORÉAL Voluminous Carbon Black mascara is amazing. The waterproof version doesn’t budge all day and makes your eyes look big and bright. The formula is good for sensitive skin and contact wearers as well.”
