Final Feature: Prindle Institute By Emmy Shiring, Photography by Ashley Bauer
We’ve almost made it, DePauw! Just a few short days before we can finally put the papers, presentations and dreaded group projects behind us. So close until we get to veg out for three weeks of Winter Break and sail smoothly during Winter Term. But, are you having trouble finding motivation during the final stretch? Take a trip out to the Prindle Institute for Ethics. Even though it is still on DePauw’s campus, it gives you a little change of space without having to drive 45 minutes to the closest Starbucks in Plainfield. A variety of study spaces with lots of space and light, Prindle can help make finals a little more bearable. So grab a friend, a few books, and make a day out of Prindle. Hopefully during the short drive, you can muster up some motivation to crank out that last paper you have lingering overhead, or at least a few hours of studying for your hardest final. Good luck everyone! We’re almost there!
Conveniently tucked away, this study space is a silent zone. Perfect place to get some quality work done!

Winter can be bitter, but we say bring it on—so long as it means stylish outerwear accessories. And from fingertip fashions to cashmere hats and chunky knit scarves, there are quite a few to pile on. To stay on-trend and avoid getting lost beneath the bulk, here are some quick tips to staying warm and avoid looking like your 7th grade Social Studies teacher.
Stay neutral.

Chunky Necklaces Help Counteract the Cold11/23/2011 |
We are in the final stretch, DePauw ladies and gentlemen. Thanksgiving break is in a matter of days and winter break will be here faster than you know it. But, I hate to be the bearer of bad news. Even though winter break is the light at the end of the tunnel, warm weather is nowhere near. The color is slowly fading out of your skin (for those of us who stay away from Superior and Extreme tanning). But, seriously ladies, there are other ways for us to keep up with color, without the fake tanning, and improving your style even in the drab winter months. Chunky necklaces are a great way to spice up any outfit, from your favorite bulky, warm sweater that looks like something your Grandma knit, to a frilly top for going out. Turquoise, glass, plastic or gold, any look can help enhance an outfit. Not to mention, people will be too busy admiring your beautiful necklace to notice your summertime tan has officially faded. Check out some great examples below.

Another Week of Greeking Out10/4/2011 |
What is there to say about Greek Week? Some are relieved not to have practices for the Greek God and Goddess dance any longer. Most feel that with a blink of an eye, the much-anticipated week has come and gone far too quickly. In one week, we managed to sport crazy outfits, participate in relays, dance, drum, sing and stomp. But, Greek Week promotes Greek unity? It is still a question we all are struggling to figure out. The whole week is dedicated to cheering on our personal sorority and fraternity houses, while freshman onlookers observe in a mixture of confusion, excitement and awe. Little do they know, Greek life is another gem at DePauw, as these houses evolve into another family and give you an even closer feeling of home. But, without a doubt, the beauty of DePauw’s campus is that all students— whether Greek, Independent, Deactivated, or First-Years eagerly anticipating recruitment—have immense Tiger Pride that will always prevail.

Feathers, Feathers Everywhere9/13/2011 |

Welcome back, DePauw collegians! Anyone else caught the feather epidemic that has spread upon our return to “The Castle”? For those of you who have not noticed, the very “Ke$ha meets Steven Tyler” trend has added a little hippie chic to our normally J. Crew-inspired campus. Whether this be a fleeting feather craze, or a classic that will carry DPU through the fall, it seems that a variety of our very own DePauw fashionistas are playing with the feathery friend… I mean trend.
