The Best Coffee Shops in Eugene

1/30/2013

Like every college student, I like to start my mornings with a nice, hot cup of coffee. It’s what gets me going in the morning and is something that I definitely cannot live without.  Whether it’s an iced Caramel Macchiato, Chai Tea Latte, or an Espresso, I always have some sort of caffeine with me especially when studying late at night in the library. I would even say that I love coffee more than I love bacon, and I’m not even embarrassed to admit it!

Although my coffee addiction seems a little out of control, it has caused me to venture around Eugene looking to broaden my taste buds and try something different than my usual Starbucks fix. I’ve found places that not only serve great coffee, but also dish up delicious foods and provide spaces to study in. I am no coffee connoisseur, but I know what an amazing cup of coffee tastes like and am always looking for a great place to study! If you’re like me and love coffee or just looking for a place to grab lunch and hit the books, you’ll enjoy these coffee shops around Eugene!

Graduation is just around the corner for some of us! Do you think about what your life is going to be like post-graduation? Do you already have plans?
I love this place too much to ever want to leave, but when I do, I want to pursue a career in Naval Aviation and become a pilot. I want to travel the world, do some touristy things, and eventually end up back in San Diego.

What is something that you wish more people knew about you?
Don't take anything I say seriously!

Who is your biggest role model and why?
That would have to go to my Mom. She's the best thing ever. She picks on me, and makes fun of me, but she is the first one to pick me up when I'm down. Although she screens my calls 24/7, never returns my messages, and avoids talking to me about my issues, at the end of the day she's my best friend! We have a weird relationship, but she's my main gal!

What did you want to be when you grew up when you were little?
I wanted to be a professional athlete of some sort (I was a dreamer).

Do you have any hidden talents?
Unfortunately, no. I feel super uncomfortable every time I get asked this question because it seems I am the only person who doesn't have one.

What is your favorite type of music?
Country mainly, but I enjoy just about every kind of music.

Hometown: Mercer Island, WA

Relationship status: Single

Hobbies: Sports for sure. Going to concerts, watching re-runs of SportsCenter, playing air-guitar on literally anything, drinking beers with my bros, and fratting out tough.

Favorite Music: I'm a huge Dave Matthews fan. I could listen to his music all day for the rest of my life. But my music library varies everywhere from country to rock to r&b to rap. Classic Rock definitely owns my heart and soul but I'm up for anything. Some other favorites include Red Hot Chili Peppers, Kanye West, The
Eagles, and Tupac. Anyone that really knows me knows that my theme song is 'Take Me Home Tonight' by Eddie Money.

What are your Ideal Qualities in a girl?: She's got to be someone I can talk to easily and about anything. She needs to understand my joking, sarcastic sense of humor. She needs to know how to have a good time i.e. rage face, but also enjoy having the occasional movie night on the couch. And last but not least, she needs to look good.

What turns you off when it comes to girls?: I don't know, not a whole lot, really. It really turns me off when a girl thinks she's sicker than she actually is.

How would you describe yourself in three words?: Rambunctious, Loving, Outgoing

Who is your hero?
My mother. She has showed me that with hard work, success will come and she drives me to be the best man I can be.

So, What are you up to these days?
Right now I'm focused on school and hitting the weight room hard! Bikini season is coming up!

You're a part of the Oregon Cheer Team, tell us about that!
Yes, this past year was my first year on the team and I am looking forward to my second year. It was such a fun experience, I couldn't imagine not being apart of it now. We just finished tryouts and I'm excited to work with and get to know all the new members to the team.

Tell us about your favorite weekend.
Any weekend there is a football game in Autzen. Game days are so much fun in Eugene because the whole city shows up. They start early and end late but being on the field is epic. And after the game my family always calls to tell me how many times they saw me on TV.
