Name: Daniel Frohm
Class: 2014
Relationship Status: Single
Major: Broadcasting

What are you involved with on campus? I'm involved in WTOP as the equipment manager, and I also anchor for the news station. I also help run 4GB on WYNO, and have a comedy show with John Mongiello called "What Really Matters." You should all watch it because it's pretty stellar.

What posters do you have hanging in your room and why? I have a large Mumford and Sons poster because they are awesome, along with a Reel Big Fish concert flyer because they are hilariously incredible, a Newgrounds.com calendar because it features a ton of cool art by independent artists, and an Iron Plate of a glass Coca-Cola bottle… simply because drinking soda out a glass bottle is the classiest thing you can do without wearing a monocle and a top hat.

If you could go professional in any sport, what would it be and why? Huh… probably football, simply because that has the most flare to it, and because if you played in the NFL any joint that knew who you were would give you free drinks.

Year: Sophomore

What clubs/ extra activities are you involved in? WTOP, secretary at Mary Walker Health Center

Do you have any pets? If so, what are their names? Henry and Hudson! My wittle pomeranian boys! They're my pride and joy <3

Outside of your major, what would be your dream job and why? Being the person who names the colors of nail polishes. Or being the next Andrew Zimmern from The Travel Channel.

If you could only eat one ice cream flavor for the rest of your life, what would it be and why? Too much pressure, so I'll probably go with popsicles. I can eat those things all day everyday.

Name: Allen Wengert

Relationship Status: Single and ready to mingle.

Year: Junior

Favorite Class you've taken so far at Oswego: Scriptwriting for Television (BRC 428)

What is your favorite movie of all time and why? I'm a Star Wars guy and always have been. It's greatness cannot be described in words. I'm not a big Jar Jar Binks fan though...

What clubs are you a part of? WTOP and WNYO (Host of 4 Guys in a Booth)

What's a little known fact that most people don't know about you? I have a third nipple. That's not something you go around telling everyone. Also, I dig Taylor Swift. That's another thing I don't go telling everybody...

Kelsey Valentin

Name: Kelsey Valentin

Class standing: Sophomore

Relationship status: Single

Extra curriculars: WTOP and Mentor with the Oswego Middle School Mentor-Scholar program.

Favorite rainy day activity: Laying on a couch reading all the Harry Potter books for the trillionth time.

Favorite place for retail therapy: Target because you can get anything your heart could ever desire and it's all super inexpensive.

If you could be any ice cream flavor, what would it be and why? Mint Chocolate Chip because I'm sweet and refreshing ;)

What is the best day you ever had and why? The best day I ever had was the day I got kicked out of Walmart with my friends. My friends and I started a HUGE lightsaber war that went throughout the entire store complete with armor and masks.

If you had a million dollars but could only spend it on someone else, who would it be and why?  I would hands down spend it on my nieces and nephew. They are all the most adorable things in the world and I already spend a mini fortune on them so it wouldn't be that much different.

How tall are you? Usually I say "really tall" but 6'4"

If you could only drink one non alcoholic drink for the rest of your life what would it be and why? Loganberry, I'm from Buffalo so it's practically in my bloodstream

What is a secret talent you have that only a few people know about? I can name any Elvis Presley song within five seconds of it playing.

What organizations are you a part of at SUNY Oswego? WTOP, intramural soccer and softball

Cooking Adventures: Tater Tot Casserole

10/3/2012

This is my first culinary creation by myself with no help from Mom.

Sick of my failed Chicken Tetrazzini (which was more like flavorless chicken noodle mushroom soup) I decided to try a five layer tater-tot casserole I found online thanks to recipes4living. I grabbed the first recipe I saw, instantly sold by the fact that I like casseroles, beans, hamburger, cheese, and most of all…tater tots.

http://www.recipe4living.com/recipes/5_layer_casserole.htm

Here’s the recipe that sold me, except I noticed something rather quickly that was a problem, for me at least:

1) The recipe does not tell you how much hamburger to make
2) It doesn’t tell you how big of a pan to cook it in

Since I am not a “let’s go ahead and wing it” kind of person when it comes to cooking, I found these missing pieces critical to my cooking. Luckily I found another recipe that I ultimately followed.

http://www.recipe4living.com/recipes/tater_tot_casserole_with_burger_and...

One thing this recipe doesn’t have that the first recipe does is cheese on the top, and since everything is better with at least some cheese, of course I decided to add some.

I started out making this kind of blindly. The recipe calls for 1.5lbs of hamburger. But when I went to the store all they had was 1 lb packages. I decided, “meh, close enough,” and ended up getting like 1.1lbs of hamburger.

I Was a College Intern: An Internship Blog

9/20/2012

Why everyone ever should experience an internship

Over the summer I was waiting to hear from an internship that would occur in the fall. I knew I was accepted, but I didn’t know my hours or the days I would be working. I was telling my friend about my anxiety and he asked “Leigh, how many internships have you done?” And when I thought about it, I’ve done four (I’ve done one on campus twice), and this one coming up would be my fifth.

Now, while I don’t claim to be an intern queen (there is a real intern queen and she was here last semester, and I had class; so I totally kick myself for it) I do claim to have some tips and tricks for getting your first (or next) internship. Ok, maybe I’ll accept intern duchess…

Why Intern?
Internships give you experience for the real world. Now, I know you’ve already heard that 100 times, but let me explain. Once you get started in your internship, it’ll probably suck. I’m not going to lie. My first week of one of my internships was spent watching my boss check emails and bid on things on eBay. It was as thrilling as it sounds. But as things progress, it gets so much better (usually).

As you start your internship, you get the odds and ends of what your employer does, and he or she begins to trust you more, let you do things on your own and have fun. Your employer can hopefully help you out with getting a job in the future, as well. You get an idea for places to work, too.

Tim LaMay

5/12/2012

Hey ladies, are you looking for a history buff that could tie you elaborate knots while filming it? I know that seems oddly specific, but if you're looking for such a man, you'll find it in this week's Campus Cutie Tim LaMay. Tim is a smart guy looking to mingle! So check out this week's cutie Tim LaMay.

Age: 20

Year at Oswego: Senior ('13)

Single or taken: Single

Favorite band: The Receiving End of Sirens. It breaks my heart that they broke up, and every time they get back together I can't see them play. They're the experts at playing 'hard to get'!

Best memory at Oswego: Bringing news and sports to life at WTOP!

If you had $70 million dollars, whats the first thing you would do?: Buy an English castle and move to Great Britain, always been a dream of mine due to my creepy obsession with British culture.

Biggest Pet Peeve: one word/letter texts... 'k' is not a response!

If you could have one exotic pet what would it be: An axolotl for sure, they're quite possibly the coolest looking animal ever! if you don't know what that is, I suggest googling it
