Favorite Food: Even though I hate choosing favorites, my default favorite food is pizza. Pretty basic but it’s so versatile and, of course, delicious.

What is your favorite part of UNI? UNI is like the story of Goldilocks and the Three Bears: just right : ) For me, it’s a perfect size and has a great feeling of community. If, however, I had to choose my absolute favorite part about UNI I would say all of the wonderful people I’ve met.

Why did you choose UNI? Honestly, I don’t really know. There’s not one specific reason that I can point out. I came on a visit when I was a senior and I just felt comfortable here. I actually didn’t even visit any other schools. Even though I don’t really know what my thought processes was when I decided upon UNI, I know I was confident in my decision.

What is your favorite college memory? Oh man. I have a pretty horrible memory when it comes to life events. UNI has brought so many memories but the problem is that I can never think of them on the spot! ONE of my favorite memories is living in one of the towers (Dancer I think…) the week after school got out my freshman year. We had to stay on campus for a track meet the next weekend and had the building all to ourselves. It was pretty awesome.

What is your favorite part of UNI?
My favorite part of UNI is the class sizes, it’s really easy to be comfortable and get to know your teacher if you choose to do so.

Why did you choose UNI?
I choose UNI because it wasn’t too far away from home nor too close and the school itself is the perfect size.

What is your favorite college memory?
My favorite college memory was going to Florida with PRSSA for the National Conference.

What are your plans after UNI?
My plans after UNI are still a little foggy; it depends on how my internship goes and where I find a job after college. I hopefully want to end up on the east coast!

Favorite Food: Pizza

What is your favorite part of UNI? I really love the campus itself. I think it is so pretty (especially in the spring and fall) and it is like a second home to me.

Why did you choose UNI? I came into college with a different major, and that major was only offered at to Iowa schools and I didn’t want to go to the other, so it was an easy choice for me.

What is your favorite college memory? It is difficult to choose just one, but I would say one would be be going to the Sweet Sixteen basketball game when UNI played in it my freshman year.

What are your plans after UNI? I would really love to do full time ministry, or use my psychology degree to do counseling.

What activities are you involved with on campus? The Navigators, International Dance Theater, and Psi Chi.

What is your dream job? My dream job would probably be doing a counseling ministry.

What do you like to do in your free time? I like to run, bike, hang out with friends, and watch movies.

Any Inspiring quotes or sayings you like to life by? “Be joyful always; Pray Continually; Give thanks in all circumstances for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus” -1 Thessalonians 5:16-18. I tell myself this verse all the time, especially when I am down and need something to pick me up.

Why did you choose UNI? I started my college experience at the University of Iowa and soon found out it wasn’t for me. Since Cedar Falls is my hometown it was the easy choice. HOWEVER, it didn’t take long to realize everything truly does happen for a reason and UNI is where I belong. I love Therapeutic Recreation and UNI’s program has been a fantastic experience.

Campus Celebrity: Mallory Stoffa

Name:Mallory Stoffa

Hometown:Albia, Iowa (small but wonderful!)

Year in school:Junior

Major:Elementary/Early Childhood Education

Job:Bath and Body Works @ College Square Mall

Favorite Food:Chicken Fried Rice!

What is your favorite part of UNI?
I love the size of UNI because it is big enough where it has a lot to offer with a variety of clubs, organizations, and curricular activities that fit each person’s interest. It is not the kind of university that is too big where you feel lost or like you don’t know a single soul you see on campus. I love the fact that I always see a familiar face no matter where I am on campus. It makes campus feel homey and it fits just right.

Why did you choose UNI?
I actually chose UNI because it had a great education program, I had a great tour guide when I first came, and I truly loved it the moment I heard about Campaniling and kissing someone at midnight—romantic!

What is your favorite college memory?
I would have to say my favorite college memory is when I found that great group of friends that had so much to offer and teach me about myself as well as about friendship and also about the good things in life. I have so much support from all of them and they are all so unique and bring such a great characteristic to the relationship we share.

Woah! Heat Wave in February! ...so what do I wear?

1/31/2012

This week is bringing the heat! Seeing the snow melt around you and the sun shining brighter than usual is enough to make you believe spring is right around the corner. However, we must remember that it’s only February and, although we don’t feel it now, cold weather is still in the air. So how is a college girl supposed to dress for class in these crazy Iowa conditions? It’s not quite spring, but it’s definitely not feeling like winter either. Here are some fashion tips to keep you warm but not too warm during this time.

1.  Keep the Rubber Flip-Flops in the shower.

Sweat pants and Ugg boots is a typical look for any collegiate in the winter. That look in itself is a whole other fashion article, so we’ll let that one slide this time.  With this warm weather rolling in, you may be tempted to pull out those summer flip-flops but keep the rubber flip-flops for the shower and beach wear. Just because you have a pair of black rubber flip-flops doesn’t mean those floppy things go with a pair of black dress pants for a presentation.

Pictured on the right is an example of a fashionable solution that can have that “winter look” but still work in this spring like weather.

The name of this adorable flat is the Zigi Soho Spring Flat. The name says it all. This flat still has the “spring look” with the crystal-embellished bow but its black faux suede fabric allows the winter feel to shine through. Wear this shoe now then save it for dressy occasions during the spring season. Click herefor ordering details.

2.  Save the mini skirt for summer!
