The 32nd Annual Special Olympics Rhode Island Games were held at our very own Bryant University Saturday, May 5th 2012. The Special Olympics Rhode Island program is one of the world’s most dynamic, providing over 1,400 year-round sports training and athletic competitions for more than 2,700 athletes and hosting over 40 local, regional, and statewide tournaments and competitions each year in 25 official and demonstration sports.
The Special Olympics events at Bryant are structured like a track meet - but that does not mean that there are not plenty of fun activities for the athletes to participate in when they are not competing! From shooting hoops with the basketball team to breaking it down with the Bulldog dancers, all the athletes had a blast. Tired from all that physical activity? No worries take a break and grab a burger and water at the BBQ. Anyone in the mood for some cotton candy? Yup, there was even cotton candy for those with a sweet tooth. Bryant sure knows how to put on a good event! |
