How to Look Cute in This Freezing Binghamton Weather

Now that snow has fallen and temperatures are starting to drop in Binghamton, we can say that winter is finally here. With the weather only expected to get colder as the months wear on, the task of staying warm is at the top of most people’s to-do lists.

For the style-conscious college gal, it can be difficult to find warm weather clothing that does not make you look like an Eskimo. But don’t worry, just because the temperature is dropping does not mean your style has to as well. It is possible to look good and stay warm and dry at the same time.

Here are some tips for braving the cold while looking and feeling great.

Layer, layer, layer: Probably the most important tip for getting dressed in the winter, layering is a skill that everyone needs to learn and embrace. Every winter, we experience freezing temperatures outside, and boiling temperatures inside. The key to being prepared for both is by wearing multiple layers. Throw on a tee, add a sweater, and top it off with your winter coat and accessories and you’ll be ready to tackle anything.

A great pair of waterproof, insulated boots is what every Binghamton student needs to survive the snowy winters. Perfect for rain, snow, ice, and freezing temperatures, a quality pair of boots is something to consider investing in. The great thing is they can be worn with anything. Whether you style them with denim pants or a skirt and tights, you’ll look good and stay warm.

Spice Up Your Fall Wardrobe

Fall is officially here, which means it’s time to start pulling out the layers that we tucked away in preparation for the colder months ahead. There are many new trends for the fall season, so it can be hard to keep up with what they are and where to find them, especially with a collegiette's hectic schedule.

If you want to add a few, key trend pieces for fall, we’re here to help. We have picked our top five favorite, trendy, and budget friendly pieces for the fall 2012 season.

1. Oxblood

The fall runways promised us that oxblood would be the “it” color of fall 2012 and they did not lie. It’s the hottest hue to have in our closets right now and it’s currently one of the easiest trends to find. It can be found at almost any clothing store, on a range of items from blouses to pants to shoes. The deep, rich color is great for spicing up the typical neutral wardrobe found in the fall.

2. Printed Pants

Printed pants are currently the hottest trend in the trouser trade. Graphic-printed bottoms can be the perfect addition to any basic ensemble. This trend can be found in an array of patterns. Whether you like, polka dots, floral, or stripes, you’re sure to find a pair to fit your style. For a day filled with classes, a pair of these eye-catching bottoms looks great paired with a simple top. For a night out, try pairing them with a bright-colored blouse or bold heels.
