If you've been keeping up with the student government elections, you should be pleased to know that we have an amazing council elected for next there. These individuals are extremely qualified and I really look forward to seeing the changes they make for our campus in the incoming year. One of the elected General Representatives happens to be a friend of mine, Sunny Singh and he so graciously agreed to an interview.
What made you decide to get involved in USAC? I had been involved in student government in high school, and when I learned about the Presidential Internship at UCLA, I applied. I was fortunate enough to be accepted, and as I got more involved in USAC, I began to understand the integral role that USAC plays in student life. USAC is how students can have an impact on each other, UCLA and the greater Los Angeles community. What are some of your ideas as Gen Rep for next year? UCLA is an incredibly large and diverse university, but my office is going to work to find the common threads between students, organizations and administrators. By doing so, we can ensure that programs and initiatives are relevant to the entire student body, and are excited effectively and efficiently. Connecting students to ASUCLA, the student union, as well as each other will help foster a spirited, inclusive campus community. What's your craziest memory from your time at UCLA so far? The UCLA-USC game was amazing! It was cold, dreary and pouring rain, but the energy in the stadium was incredible! It was awesome sharing that experience with the entire UCLA community because it was the first time we had beat USC in a few years. Shout-out to Coach Mora for bein' a G. What do you like to do in your free time? |

Here's to an amazing next year with some very qualified council members! Cheers! |
Day to Night in 5 Minutes5/1/2013 |
Nothing is more rewarding after a long day of work or class than a night out with some friends. However, if works runs a little late or you don't have as much time as you'd like to get ready, don't fret. There's a five minute regimen to transforming you day makeup into a gorgeous night look. Just follow these simple steps: 1) Blot. Your skin has probably accumulated a ton of oil during the day so before applying any makeup, using oil blotting sheets to blot away the excess oil that may causing you to look extra shiny in the wrong places. 2) Eyes. Next, focus on the eyes. Use a darker shade of your current eyeshadow (or simply a dark shadow such as dark brown or charcoal) to add a smokey effect to your eyes. Apply the shadow to the creases of your eyes to make them really pop. 3) Conceal. Makeup tends to wear off during the day so use some concealer to cover up any areas that may need to be retouched. 4) Lips. Finally, apply a lipstick a little darker than your natural lip color to give you that extra bold pop of color. And it's really that easy. With those 4 easy steps, you don't have to worry about spending hours to get ready to go out after a long day. In just five minutes you can be out the door and on your way to perhaps meeting the next Campus Cutie! (:

It's the Little Things4/27/2013 |
I saw this quote while I was volunteering. I came across it on the steps in a stairwell and as I continued walking up those stairs, I found more and more inspiring quotes. This one was my favorite because it's also the middle of midterms season and I wanted to remind everyone to hang in there and give it you hardest efforts because it can be very worth it in the end! It's the little things like this that just make someone's day!

Coachella 20134/22/2013 |
Coachella is one of the most popular music festivals of the year. It brings together a variety of music genres to enjoy three days of good music, good company, and good weather. Now offered on two weekends, more people can go and times convenient for them! People always rant and rave about how amazing it is and according to some friends that went this year, it was the "best weekend ever." I guess the legacy lived on! |
Coachella 20134/17/2013 |
This music festival is one of the most popular all year. It encompasses most types of music styles so almost anyone can find at least one artist over the course of the entire weekend that they like. It's an awesome way to bring people together through music and art. Tickets may be pricey but people usually buy them in advance and sell them if they can't go or what not. From the pictures I've seen and stories I've heard it's "one of the best weekends ever."

Playful Plaits
Have you ever woken up with just a couple minutes to get ready? You rush out of bed, jump in the shower, throw on the first clothes you find, and then realize you only have a few minutes to spare for your hair. Braiding hair is a very simple solution to a time crunch or even just a bad hair day! Here’s a couple braiding techniques that might come in handy next time you over sleep! The Beginner’s Braid-this is the simplest braiding technique out there and looks cute both when the hair is first tied in a ponytail and then braided as well as when it’s left loose and braided. (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8UyB9XigBXM) The French Braid-this is one of my personal favorites because it’s the first advanced type of braiding that I learned how to do and I actually just picked it up from watching my mom braid my hair. It’s simple and super cute! (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XLspZ5bof7o) The Fishtail Braid-this braid looks a little different from the usual braids because it uses two groups of hair instead of the usual hair but it’s also fairly simple and can be manipulated in so many ways! (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=smJvLUl89ko) The Waterfall Braid-this is a newer trend that I’ve noticed is picking gaining popularity. It’s a bit tougher than the previous braids but it’s still very doable so if you have some free time, give it a shot and get some practice because this style looks so sweet and girly! "I Hate College but Love All the Parties..."3/20/2013 |
If you recognize the lyrics "I hate college but love all the parties," you should be excited to know that Sammy Adams is coming to LA next month! He will be performing at the El Rey Theater in Los Angeles on both the 5th and 6th of April. Tickets are approximately 40 dollars (can be purchased on Ticketmaster) and the doors open at 8:00 PM on both nights. I'll definitely be there so I hope to see some of you Bruinettes there! |
Witnessing EDM History3/13/2013 |
This past Saturday I had the pleasure of going to Swedish House Mafia's last stop on their "One Last Tour." For those of you interested in EDM, I can tell you this felt like I was witnessing history because they won't even play as a group again. That being said, the show was absolutely unforgettable. I loved every second of Swedish House Mafia's set. This photo was taken while I was sitting on my friend's shoulders, taking in the breathtaking view ahead of me. It was incredible. |
