Name: Carl Spielvogel

Year: 2013

Hometown: Lexington, Massachusetts

Prospective Major: Biology, or Biochemistry

Favorite Spot in Brunswick: The footbridge you can jump off above the dam, and SeaDogs or Mr. Bagel.

Campus Activities: Curling, skiing and playing squash or tennis with friends, volunteering at an animal clinic, and academics.

Favorite Dining Hall Food: Breakfast pizza and holiday dinners.

Random Fact:  Acorns are a great source of carbs and proteins, and thus, acorns are vital to the food chain. For example, studies have shown that a poor crop yield of acorns can lead to a drastic decrease in the amount of Black Bear cubs born in that year. The acorn crop in North America is higher than all annual nut crops in the continent altogether, yet we don’t eat them. They’re edible. All it takes is a quick shelling, plop them into boiling water for 15 minutes (to make them taste better), and you’ve got some prime nut ready to fulfill your lax bro or athletic need for protein. Try it sometime.

Pet Peeves: The Lakers.
