BC Loves UNREAL5/4/2013 |
UNREAL’s mission is to Unjunk America’s favorite candy by getting rid of the corn syrup, the artificial ingredients, the partially hydrogenated oils, and some of the sugar. They added more cacao, real caramel, more peanuts, protein, and fiber. Their goal is to challenge what we have all come to accept in our food and its effects on our health: to change the way junk food is made here in America and around the world.
Not only does this candy taste better than the originals, but it’s good for you, too. Gone are the days when you have to feel bad for having a Reese’s cup; UNREAL 77 has less sugar and fat, but more fiber than the Reese’s. It’s the same situation for all of their flavors: just as delicious, but so much better for you. Which candy wins? It’s a no-brainer. At BC, we've been working to UNJUNK our events on campus: Marathon Monday, the Boston Strong Fashion Show, study days in the library, group projects, etc. We can't get enough!!

UNREAL Candy and Jingle Ball 2012 in Boston!!12/18/2012 |
Christmas is only a week away!! So, what better way to get into the holiday spirit than a concert? Last week, UNREAL Candy took us to Kiss Jingle Ball 2012 at the TD Garden in Boston! It was the perfect way to spend our Thursday night. This amazing concert featured so many talented performers and artists like Karmin, Cher Lloyd, The Wanted, Ed Sheeran, Alex Clare, Bridgit Mendler, Timeflies, Train, and of couse, Justin Bieber! The crowd was excited and energetic, and it was obvious that the artists were thrilled to be there performing for all of us. It was a blast! Not only were the performances absolutely incredible, but we also got the chance to meet Nick and Amy of Karmin!! It was amazing to be able to meet such successful, young performers who also call Boston their home! They were so friendly, and we even got to have our pictures taken with them. |
10 Easy Ways To: Feel Healthier in a Day3/21/2012 |
It’s that time during the semester when everything is starting to catch up with us. Whether we over-exerted ourselves during Spring Break or are drowning in mid-semester work, we have been burning the candle at both ends, and it is time for a break. With all the stress of midterms, colds going around, and a serious lack of sleep, I bet you’re not feeling your best. So, let’s take a little bit of time for ourselves and use these 10 easy ways to feel healthier in one day. They’re quick, easy, and guaranteed to make you a healthier you in a single day. 1. Drink at least 1 cup of green tea (or, if you’re like me, have 3 or 4… or 5). Green tea tastes delicious and is believed to help speed up your metabolism. The antioxidants are great for your skin and help get rid of free radicals too. 2. Drink ice water instead of soda, juice, etc. Not only is ice water much more refreshing than regular water, but it causes your body to burn calories to keep your body temperature up. Get those 8 glasses a day to burn you a few more calories.
3. Swap the chips for pretzels. Pretzels have less fat, less calories, and are more filling, while still satisfying your salty tastes. |
BC Winter Fashion: Things We Love12/8/2011 |
Winters in Boston are brutal. They’re blisteringly cold, snowy, windy, and can be downright unpleasant at times, but that doesn’t mean we don’t secretly love them. They give us a chance to bundle up, layer, and be cozy while looking fabulous. What’s the winter fashion at BC like, you ask? Well, here are a few of the things we love: Bean Boots. These classics from L.L. Bean are amazing. They are sturdy, comfortable, warm, and look cute with anything.
UGG Boots. These are the classic comfort boots. Not the most beautiful things created, but they’re warm and surprisingly durable.
Puffy Coats. Again, they’re warm, and with a faux fur trim around the hood, you can add a little bit of glamour to a functional item. Patagonia Fleeces. They’re comfortable, warm, versatile, and come in every color of the rainbow. What’s not to love? Scarves. Scarves. Scarves. Scarves. Need I say more? Chunky Sweaters. Comfortable and chic, these are wardrobe staples. You can find them anywhere, but this one from H&M is great and affordable on a collegiette’s™ budget!
Leggings. Disclaimer: Leggings are not pants. But when worn appropriately (with everything covered that should be covered... nothing transparent), they’re great for under a chunky sweater or tucked into boots. |
