Maxi Dresses5/3/2013 |
The Maxi Dress The maxi dress is the perfect transition piece from spring to summer! Here are a couple of things to look out for when you’re buying one. · Many of my friends tell me that they can’t wear maxi dresses because of the length. If you find that the dress is too long, consider shortening it by taking in a couple of inches at the bottom. · Like with any other dress, make sure the maxi dress defines your waist. Most dresses naturally are narrow at your waist and help flatter your body. If you want something more loose, consider buying a maxi dress that you can belt or tie. · Make sure that you are comfortable with how the dress hangs on your body. You don’t want it to be a tight fit, nor do you want to the dress to look like a bag on your body. Here are a couple of maxi dresses and different ways that you can wear them!

What I like about this dress is that it looks like two pieces in one. It can look extra dressed up with a belt, wedges, and earrings. You can also throw a denim or chambray shirt over it. |

Shalini Pace '152/3/2013 |
Name: Shalini Pace Year: Sophomore Major/Minor: Religious Studies, potential minor in ECLS/Studio Art Meet Shalini Pace! She can be found wandering through the quad or basking in the sun on a quad bench. Most of the time, you know when she’s around if you hear the jingle of her metal bracelets and infectious laugh. 1) So I heard you went to South Africa this past winter break on a Richter ASP grant. What was your favorite part of the experience? – My entire trip was really amazing so it’s pretty hard to narrow down specifics. Most of my family is from there so it made traveling around really convenient. I actually got a chance to go to this mountain range called Drakensburg which is right outside Jozi. I went with some family on the way back from Durban to the Cape. That was definitely one of my favorite experiences. I was there for about two days and it was just such a good time, hiking, swimming in the falls, horseback riding (who knew I could do that) family and food, such good food. The stars were unreal over there, breathtaking, I want to go back. 2) Favorite time of day at Oxy and why? – My favorite time at day at oxy... is sunset definitely. One of my favorite sites actually is the reflection of a particularly good sunset off the windows of the AGC buliding, you’re just surrounded by so many colors its incredible. |
Finals Style!12/12/2012 |
Meet Garrett! For Finals Week, he's keeping comfortable by wearing cutoff jeans, a simple white tee, and one of his favorite pairs of sneakers. It's hard to think of other things besides exams and papers during finals so it's easier to keep your outfits simple by turning to staples in your closet. |

Finals are Approaching!12/2/2012 |
One event that many students look forward to after coming back to school from Thanksgiving Break is Winter Break! It is a little weird coming back to school for another 2 weeks and going right back into break mode again, but it just encourages me to try to get my work done. Now for those that are still applying to colleges, the deadline for the UC applications were yesterday. For private colleges like Oxy, students may decide to apply Early or Regular Decision; regular decision applications are due in January so if you want to apply to Oxy, you still have time! Though there aren't many events going on at campus during this time besides intense studying for finals and the themed "Christmas Sweater" party, here are a couple of links online that may entertain you during a study break (: 1) With Fall, comes boots!
