To the Guy I Thought I’d Be with Forever

To the Guy I Thought I’d Be with Forever,

Maybe it was my naive belief that moving to school and falling in love would be the perfect fairy tale.

Thinking back, I should have been more guarded and a little less love struck.

I should have realized that the good times of laughing, and happiness did not out weigh the fights, the lying, or the cheating. I thought we would be together forever. I thought our chats about the future, meeting family from hours away (not to mention the months of long distance), meant something to both of us, something serious and meaningful. Obviously not to you. Spending everyday together, almost living together seemed like a serious thing to me. But hey, I know that partying and Tinder and almost everything else were above me and I could hate you for that. Moving forward, there will always be moments that remind me of you, and that remind me of us, and that’s okay. As much as I could hate you for breaking my heart into a billion little pieces, I would like to thank you. Thank you for being the guy who taught me I deserve more; I deserve someone who loves me and respects me for who I am. Thank you for all the amazing times, laughs, family dinners, and drunken Netflix and chill nights. Thank you for having all the qualities I thought I wanted in someone to be with forever. If it wasn’t for you, I would not have grown so much or realized the things that really do make a difference in a relationship are the things your momma taught you, like kindness and trust. Not to mention that your sex life is not a valid reason to stay in a shitty relationship.

But hey, cheers to new beginnings as another fall rolls around.

I wish you nothing but happiness and success and truly hope you get that.

Sincerely,

The Girl Who is Happy Now

You will typically see me with a large cup of tea and browsing social media under the fairy lights and reading up on my favourite lady bosses (Mindy Kaling let me be you please). Also my trivia regarding superheroes is endless. I have more music than time to listen to and someone definitely should consider taking away my blogging privileges. My love for pop culture is limitless and Netflix is the true MVP in my opinion. Contributor writer for HerCampus Laurier Stalk me and let's be friends here: Insta & Twitter: webofem
