You’ve changed. So has Harvard Square. The selection of restaurants you’ve learned to love (since it’s all you’ve got) has some new additions and is about to have more.
Wrapro, a cheap and casual Lebanese-style restaurant, opened up a second location on Eliot street earlier this year. Specializing in falafel and obviously wraps, Wrapro might be a good option for a quick meal outside of the Dhall or a vegan meal that isn’t a rock. Unfortunately, it’s not a place for late night cravings since it closes at 10pm, but it’s less than a three minute walk from Kirkland and Eliot.
Tom’s Bao Bao may be the most exciting addition to the square since…last year, when I arrived on campus. Feel honored that “Tom’s quest to deliver the perfect, most authentic bao to the United States” (tomsbaobao.com) in our very own bubble. Worth checking out for handmade steamed buns before 10pm on weekdays and 11pm on weekends.
For a nicer meal when the parents visit or the occasional night out, consider Forage, a dinner restaurant on the way to the quad. Locally-sourced almost to a fault, this seasonal-ingredient restaurant strives to be sophisticated but also accessible, with a cozy and welcoming atmosphere (foragecambridge.com).
Later this year, fans of b.good can expect a replacement for the Dunster Street location at 1 Eliot Street, next to Hair Cuttery.
Additionally, Sweetgreen an East Coast salad chain, is also on its way with a new location planned for 39 JFK Street, across from Tasty Burger.
After quite a rude departure, Panera on Massachusetts Avenue will be replaced by Tatte Bakery, although still very much under construction. This Brookline-born bakery promises gourmet baked goods, ample seating, and baking classes, as a sort of bigger and better Crema.
Finally, Flour bakery will be arriving at the old Chili’s location on Mount Auburn Street on October 24th, so our non-existent need for bakeries is now even more filled.
